Advanced Transportation: Carrier Management- BMGT470

 

The study of the wide range of issues facing managers in transportation. This includes decisions on market entry, pricing, competitive responses, service levels, marketing strategies, capital structure, and growth objectives. Specific management decisions and overall strategies pursued by management are examined.

Supply Chain Management Courses

International Supply Chain Management- BMGT477

 

This class studied the importance of supply chain management within a global context. Topics covered included: the structure, service, pricing and competitive relationships among international carriers and transport intermediaries as well as documentation, location decisions, international sourcing/distribution and management of inventory throughout the international supply chain.

Technology Applications in Supply Chain Management - BMGT476

 

This class covered the role of technology in managing the supply chain. It focused on:

 

  • Providing students hands-on experience in advanced software systems that build on top of enterprise resource planning systems

  • Demonstrating how SAP and Oracle can result in supply chain cost reductions and service improvements



Introduction to Supply Chain Management and Logistics- BMGT372

 

This class covered general theories of Supply Chain Management as well as Logistics Management. It focused on:

  • Coordinating suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, and retailers to ensure that products and services are available to the final consumer in a timely and cost-effective fashion

  • Transportation management, warehousing, materials handling, inventory management, and order fulfillment

A critical project I completed during this class was a case analysis on the company Dollar Tree and their decision to relocate a Distribution Center or expand an existing one. Click here to view it. 



Introduction to Transportation- BMGT370 

 

This class provided an overview of the transportation field with an emphasis on freight movements from the perspective of both providers of capacity and users of freight services. It Examined the characteristics of the freight modes and the role of each mode as a major component of logistics and supply chain management. It also explored the economics, energy use, and finances of each mode as well as the impact of government policies on each mode's future.

Marketing Courses

Marketing Principles and Organization- BMGT350



An introduction to the concepts and principles of marketing including the marketing of service and nonprofit organizations. Provides an overview of all the concepts in marketing including relationship marketing, product development, pricing, promotion, marketing research, consumer behavior, international marketing, distribution and internal marketing to employees

Consumer Analysis- BMGT451

 

This course identified buyer behavior concepts relevant to a specific marketing problem so that appropriate marketing decisions can be made. Conceptual frameworks are drawn from psychology, sociology, economics, and other social sciences to aid in understanding the behavior of ultimate and industrial buyers.

Marketing Research Methods- BMGT452

 

This class focused on aiding marketing decision-making through exploratory, descriptive and casual research. It worked to develop skills in designing market research studies, including selection of data collection method, development of data collection instrument, sample design, collection and statistical analysis of data and reporting the results.

Electronic Marketing- BMGT484

 

This class examined the process of developing, implementing and analyzing strategies for successfully marketing a variety of existing and potential products and services on the Internet. It devoted special attention to the tools and techniques unique to the electronic media.
